Working During Covid-19

Tate Jenson

With the outbreak of COVID-19 many changes have come about. One thing that hasn’t happened in years is the shutting down of all dine-in services and public restaurants.

Due to this, working at the fast food restaurant, Culvers, has been a completely different experience. At Culvers we moved to a drive through only system which for a new restaurant is a completely new challenge. We have been busy every day since we have opened, and shutting down basically half of our restaurant has stalled many things. We have now adapted to the new changes and we moved one of our cash registers outside. Although this has worked, it still is nothing like having an open lobby. I recently talked to the General Manager of our store and asked him what the hardest thing about the new changes were. He replied, that of course not having a lobby is hard but he said that he really just misses the people. He misses interacting with people and constantly hearing the noise of people having a good time in our lobby.

Recently the Governor of Utah came out with a statement saying that all dine in services will hopefully go back to normal as long as the social distancing rules are maintained. This news brought hope to many restaurants and people, because it is a sign that things are going back to normal.
